The Military History Museum of the Bundeswehr

The fortress is partly accessible.

There are parking spaces for people with disabilities. 
There are accessible toilets. 
There are seats. 
You can use a lift to get to the fortress. 
There are models that you can touch. 
There are ramps for wheelchairs.

There is an audio guide in simple English. 
An audio guide is a device. 
You listen to it. 
It tells you about the exhibition.

Please note:

Some paths are difficult for wheelchairs. 
However, there is a ramp that leads to the ‘Fascination Fortress’ exhibition.


Admission fees

The exhibition is free.

However, you have to pay to enter Königstein Fortress.

Adults pay €13. 
Some people pay €10.

A family ticket costs €32. 
It is for two adults and up to four children.

A mini-family ticket costs €19. 
It is for one adult and up to two children.

People with the Saxon Family Pass do not have to pay.

Senior citizens pay full price.

Getting here by train
You can get here by train. 
The train is called an S-Bahn. 
You need to take the S1 line. 
There is a bus service from the railway station to Königstein Fortress. 
The bus is called Festungsexpress.

Getting here by bus 
You can also get here by bus. 
Take either a number 241 or a number 246 bus.

Getting here by ship 
You can also get here by ship. 
Ships travel on the Elbe. 
There is a bus service from the port to Königstein Fortress. 
The bus is called Festungsexpress.
