Selected highlights from the exhibition ‘Fascination Fortress’

Here we present a selection of highlights from the exhibition:

The striking opening scene, in which a knight and a Terminator face each other, immediately draws the eye. The two form a striking contrast. Whilst the knight represents the use of personal armour, the killer robot from the future symbolizes warfare without human presence.

The oldest artefact in the exhibition is a stone mace head dating from between 2,700 and 2,200 BC. And although it is undoubtedly a deadly weapon, its destructive power pales in comparison to that of modern weapons.

One example of this is the ultimate limit of any supposedly secure place – for no armour and no fortress can withstand a Mk53 hydrogen bomb.
