Each time a user accesses the website of the Military History Museum of the Bundeswehr, and each time a file is retrieved, data relating to this process is temporarily stored and processed in anonymized form in a log file. The following data is stored for each access/retrieval:

- Page accessed/name of the file retrieved

Temporary cookies are used when accessing pages to facilitate navigation. These cookies do not contain any personal data and expire at the end of the session or after one month at the latest.
If you contact us, the personal data you provide will only be processed for the purpose of sending you the requested information or for other purposes explicitly stated in the respective forms, and will not be passed on to third parties.
Our website contains links to services provided by other providers (e.g. YouTube, Facebook, Instagram). On what legal basis is personal data processed?
The processing of personal data is carried out in accordance with the provisions of the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG).
What is personal data?
According to Article 4(1) of the GDPR, personal data is any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person. An identifiable natural person is one who can be identified, directly or indirectly (in particular by association with an identifier such as a name, an identification number, location data, or an online identifier).
Your Rights
You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time with future effect. Once consent is withdrawn, you will no longer be able to use the Bundeswehr Military History Museum’s online platforms. The lawfulness of the processing prior to withdrawal remains unaffected.
In addition to the aforementioned right of revocation at any time, you have the following data subject rights vis-à-vis the controller:
- Right to access information regarding the processing of your personal data (including information on the purpose, recipients, and duration of storage) pursuant to Art. 15 GDPR,
- Right to rectification of inaccurate personal data (Art. 16 GDPR),
- Right to erasure (pursuant to Art. 17 GDPR),
- Right to restriction of processing and data portability (Art. 18 and 20 GDPR), and
- Right to object to processing (pursuant to Art. 21 GDPR).
- If you object, your personal data will no longer be processed. An exception applies if there are compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests.
- Right to lodge a complaint with the Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (pursuant to Art. 77 GDPR).
